English striker Harry Kane would compete with Lewandowski and Benzema for the Ballon d’Or if he took top honors, says former footballer Emile Heskey.
A little about the topic
Harry Kane, who sets himself up for 2022 World Cup duty with the Three Lions, has spent his entire club career tied with Tottenham and found a target in 261 Premier League heavyweights – with a 20-goal barrier interrupted for eight consecutive seasons. The England international has, however, yet to grab the top honor with club and country with that setback, leaving him among the underdogs when it comes to the most prestigious of individual prizes.
What did Heskey say about Harry Kane?
Reflecting in association with Paddy Power, the former player said when asked if Harry would be in contention for the Ballons d’Or if he played for the likes of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, that if Kane played for a club that competes for top honors every season then he would challenge the likes of Benzema and Lewandowski for the Ballon d’Ors.
According to Emile Heskey, someone with his ability who can score all types of goals regularly. If the Spurs were in the Champions League every season and the club won silver, there is no question that he would have won separate trophies. Having Harry Kane in a club who doesn’t do it every season is holding him back in a way. Emile says that Kane plays at the highest level, but the players around him don’t.
With Harry short on accolades, the obvious question is whether he should start considering making a move away from north London. Heskey isn’t convinced that the striker has reached the last chance saloon yet, adding on the travel options available to him, that Kane doesn’t have to move to a better club next season.
The likes of Lewandowski and Ronaldo still playing at their age at the highest level doesn’t mean Harry has to move to a better club before he’s 30. With these guys keeping fit, healthy and in great shape, they are able to continue demanding moves to big clubs with big salaries as they know the clubs want them. According to Emile, if Harry does this, then he can play at the highest level for many years to come.
