ENG thrash SA on 83 runs in 2nd ODI, beat the Proteas by 118 runs to level series 1-1

ENG vs SA: The second match of the ongoing three-match ODI series between England and South Africa was played at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester. In this match, the British team trampled the guests by 118 runs. Due to rain, this match was done only 29-29 overs.

Playing first, where England were all out on 201 in reply, the entire team of South Africa was bundled out for just 83 runs and the hosts leveled the series 1-1. Significantly, the first ODI played in Durham was won by South Africa by 62 runs.

What was the condition of the whole match?

Talking about the second match, the bowlers of both the teams performed brilliantly. Dwayne Pretorius took 4 wickets for South Africa first. Apart from them, Norkhia and Tabrez Shamshi took 2-2 wickets and captain Keshav Maharaj took 1 wicket.

Thanks to this, South Africa managed to stop hosts England by bowling them out for 201 runs in 28.1 overs. Perhaps he would not even have thought that he would not be able to chase this goal. But Reece Topley and David Willey turned the match around.

South Africa’s team got four consecutive setbacks one after the other for just 6 runs. As if the score was not trying to move forward. After this, half the Proteas team returned to the pavilion for 27 runs. To some extent, Heinrich Klaasen (33) kept the innings in check but he did not get much support from the other end.

In response, the English bowlers asked him a lot of questions. In this way, the entire South African team was all out after scoring just 83 runs in 20.4 overs. Adil Rashid returned from Haj with 3, Moeen Ali and Reece Topley 2-2 and David Willey and Sam Curran 1-1. In this way, England won this match by 118 runs.

The third and deciding ODI match of the series will now be played on 24 July at Headingley, Leeds. This match can also be called the decider of the series. So far the series is tied at 1-1.

In the first ODI, South Africa defeated the hosts by 62 runs. In this match, South Africa had given England a target of 334 to win and in response, England were all out for 271 in 46.5 overs. After this series, South Africa will also play three T20s (27, 28 and 31 July) and three Test matches (from 17 August to 8 September) on this tour.
