England vs India: Reaction of both the captains after the win
What Harmanpreet Kaur said
“I am really happy, everyone made use of their chances. I always enjoy (captaincy) and I am getting everyone’s support.”
“When I was batting, before my first 50, it was not easy to bat because they were bowling well. After that, I just gave myself that freedom and looked for all the shots.”
On Thakur, who took four wickets
“She’s always bringing us success and our team depends on her.”
Kaur also confirmed that Goswami will retire at Lord’s, which will be a “very special” day for all the players.
The 40-year-old has scored 353 runs across all formats, including 253 in 202 ODIs for India.
What Amy Jones said
Amy Jones was clearly disappointed with the loss but said it would be a good learning opportunity for the young England players.
“Every loss is tough and they got away from us. Harman batted brilliantly, and we struggled to defend at the back.
“She was looking for boundaries, and it was important to try to slow it down as much as possible. It would be a big lesson for them (young bowlers). It felt like everywhere we bowled, she was looking for boundaries.
“Everyone knows experience and inconsistencies bring and we’ve seen some of the best spells over the summer.
“It’s not over, there are points on the line at Lord’s.”
