The IPL 2023 ended with the Chennai Super Kings winning their fifth title. Fans waited for this moment for a long time because the final match was postponed to Monday because rain interrupted the day. The next day, batting first, Gujarat Titans set a target of 215 runs, but during CSK’s chase, the play was again interrupted by the rain, and the target was reduced to 171 runs using the DLS method. The match was very close till the very end, as CSK needed 10 runs off 2 balls, and Jadeja became the man of the moment and finished the game with a six and four.

This season was all about Thala
The entire CSK dugout rushed to the ground and squeezed Jadeja. We also saw MS Dhoni lifting Jadeja, and while hugging him, little tears were seen in the skipper’s eyes. Many videos of this moment were shared on social media and received a lot of affection. This season witnessed huge support from fans in every city for “Thala,” aka MS Dhoni. Every social media platform saw enormous amounts of celebration messages from the fans for the team. However, one post got huge criticism from the fans.

England’s cricket fan club “The Barmy Army” joined the CSK fans and decided to post a celebration post, but they chose to greet only their countrymen Moen Ali and Ben Stokes. The army posted a photo of Moen and Ben, who were in the CSK jersey, and tweeted, “Congratulations, Ben and Mo.” Fans didn’t like their gesture and trolled them with numerous responses. One user wrote “Chicken dinner with 0 kills”, while the other wrote “Even Ben would be embarrassed after seeing this post”. Another user also sarcastically wrote that if Ben Stokes had played, maybe GT would have won the final.

Ben Stokes spent most of the time in the dugout

The reason for these trolls was valid because Ben Stokes played only two matches in the IPL this year and spent most of the time in the dugout. Stokes was bought by the Chennai Super Kings for 16 crores, and the all-rounder couldn’t contribute much for the team as he was injured, and even after regaining proper fitness, he was seen just in the dugout. However, Moen was utilised well. He scored 124 runs in 10 innings and managed to take 11 wickets from the 26 overs he bowled the entire season.
