Erik ten Hag and his assistant Van der Gaag have arrived in London to continue his Manchester United revolution.

Mitchell van der Gaag, Ten Hag’s long-time assistant, has arrived in London. Manchester United is therefore expected to formalize his role as the new No 2.

On Wednesday afternoon, the two Dutchmen arrived in the city via private plane. Prior to their arrival in London, the couple worked from Holland.

Over the next 24 hours, the new United coaching tandem is set to meet with colleagues.

Ten Hag and Van der Gaag may travel to Selhurst Park for United’s last game of the season against Crystal Palace.

Ten Hag organized a crucial preparation meeting in Amsterdam last week, to which Steve McClaren was invited. This indicates that the former England manager will join Van der Gaag as an assistant coach.

As such, Ten Hag wants McClaren, who formerly worked under Sir Alex Ferguson, to be a member of his team, although the club has yet to confirm his employment.

However, the fact that he arranged the meeting in Amsterdam suggests that the 61-year-old is set to return to the club with whom he famously won the Treble in 1999.

Ten Hag was McClaren’s assistant during the Englishman’s first season at FC Twente in 2008-2009.
