The 20-year-old has scored twice as Dortmund ran out 4-0 winners at Veltins-Arena. And he fully accepts his role as the club’s new talisman as they continue to fight for success in all domestic and European competitions. When asked if he now sees himself as one of the leaders in the BVB dressing room, Haaland told reporters: “You can say that. I feel like I take more and more space. The team trusts me and expects me to tilt the games in our favour. And I love being in that role, so I think I agree with you there.”

The Norwegian has scored 43 goals in his first 43 appearances for BVB

The Norwegian added about his desire to influence the club’s next generation of talent: “I feel like I have experienced a lot despite my young age. I try to care for those younger than me, and I try to help everyone get better”. Dortmund spent $24 million on one of the last decade’s deals to move Haaland to Westfalenstadion from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2020. The towering centre-forward has scored 43 goals in his first 43 appearances for Dortmund, including 27 this season. With Bundesliga and Champions League defences yet to find a way to keep him at the club. If he continues on his current trajectory, a bidding war among some of Europe’s top clubs could erupt when the transfer window reopens this summer.

The likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City and Manchester United are credited with an interest in the BVB star, which is now reportedly worth over $97 million. Haaland insisted that he is quite satisfied at Westfalenstadion so far. Still, it has been suggested that BVB may consider cashing in on a prized asset later this year amid mounting financial troubles caused by the coronavirus crisis.
