Erling Haaland Reveals Messages He Received From Solskjaer After Signing For City.
Erling Haaland disclosed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer gave him a message of good luck after his transfer to Manchester City.
The 21-year-old moved to the Etihad Stadium after the Premier League champions matched his release clause of £51 million.
It is the latest chapter in Haaland’s spectacular climb since making his professional debut for hometown club Bryne in the Norwegian second division at age 15.
Nine months later, the striker transferred to Molde, who was managed by Solskjaer at the time.
Solskjaer is, of course, a Manchester United icon, regardless of how his management tenure at Old Trafford ended, so he couldn’t help but poke fun at Haaland’s move to City.
Haaland said, “When I signed with City, he congratulated me and wrote to me, “Good luck on coming to the wrong side of Manchester.”
‘We talk sometimes. As you are aware, he had a significant impact on my career at Molde. He is a good person”.
Haaland moved from Molde to Red Bull Salzburg in 2019, and it was believed that Solskjaer’s United were interested in signing him around the same time.
The 6ft 5in striker ultimately moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he established himself as one of Europe’s hottest talents. He says he has no regrets about any of his professional decisions.
Haaland stated, “Three years ago, City didn’t want me because they had [Sergio] Aguero up front, so I had no choice but to join Man City.”
In essence, I felt more comfortable traveling to the other country than coming to England. I could have come here numerous times in my career, but I felt more attracted to the other location, which I believe was an excellent decision.
“Since I went to Molde, Salzburg, and Dortmund, I have made impeccable decisions.” I have no complaints about that.
