Spurs 0-3 loss to Manchester United has come as a major blow to Santo’s future at Tottenham with the coach under mounting pressure to keep his job.

Prior to Saturday’s match against Man United, sacking Nuno as Tottenham’s head coach had not been discussed by chairman Daniel Levy and other key figures. However, the feeble performance and the alarming crowd reaction to their loss have had a major impact on the Portuguese future at the club.

The boos that rang round the stadium during the loss were a significant blow to Nuno’s hopes of staying in charge. Therefore, there is a growing feeling that he cannot survive many more repeats of what happened on Saturday.

Tottenham will face Vitesse Arnhem on Thursday. Another lackluster display will lead to further barracking from fans before Nuno meets Everton on Sunday.

Regardless, two positive performances and results will ease the pressure on Nuno before heading to the final international break.

Suppose Spurs sacks Nuno, the lack of a clear candidate to take over could work in Nuno’s favor although Porto boss Sergio Conceicao is understood to have admirers at Spurs.

Even though the coach is given extra time, there is an impression every victory he manages from here will only prolong the agony. The jeers that reverberated around the club’s stadium largely indicate the ill-feeling towards the Portuguese boss.

A majority of the Tottenham supporters have already turned and growing sections of the fan base had made up their minds long before the feeble defeat at United.

For them, Nuno is not the man and he never was. Tottenham supporters have had to accept failure over the years but what they can’t accept is no style or swagger. The “Tottenham way” is a bone of contention argued by many that it puts style over substance.

And, just as summed up by Roy Keane, “Spurs are boring. They are boring to watch. Really boring”.
