Fear in United: best players ruled out against Liverpool match
United midfielder, Paul Pogba, and goalkeeper, De Gea, have injuries. The two have been ruled out of Sunday’s Premier League meeting with the League leaders, Liverpool at Old Trafford.
26-year-old Frenchman is suffering from a foot injury that has limited him to two appearances since the end of August.
He had a scan after the Arsenal game and needed a few weeks’ rests in a boot so hopefully he won’t be too long.
Right now, Pogba’s story is different. He won’t make to play the game against Liverpool.
De Gea is also a doubt for the game. The goalkeeper will have scans on Thursday on a groin injury.
In this case, Sergio Romero will deputize against Liverpool. That is, if De Gea is ruled out with an injury that forced him off the second half of Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Sweden on Tuesday.
However, Martial, Shaw, and Wan Bissaka are expected to push for returns after injury. On the other hand, Solskjaer confirms, “I can’t tell you 100% who is going to be fit as something might happen.”
This might mean that also Solskjaer, is not certain of which player will be on the pitch in the most awaited match against Liverpool.
“But hopefully Aaron and Anthony will last the training this week and be available for selection. If it’s for half a game or 30 minutes, I don’t know. But let’s see where they are at.” Solskjaer adds.
United is two points clear of the relegation zone while Liverpool has an eight-point lead at the top. Sunday’s match will give a clear direction on what’s next for United.
