Rio Ferdinand says Frenkie de Jong would be an astute player at Old Trafford.

What did Ferdinand say about Frenkie de Jong?

The Dutch player would make a great signing for the Red Devils if the PL club could delay the successful pursuit of the Barcelona star, according to veteran Man Utd. De Jong will be the subject of a bid from Manchester United at the end of the season, as new head coach Erik ten Hag looks to bring the countryman on board at Old Trafford as part of his major refurbishment. Now Rio Ferdinand, one of PL Man Utd’s most famous stars, has weighed in on just what his capture could bring to the club if he was brought from the Camp Nou to Manchester.

The former England star has said he always thought he was the best player. According to Ferdinand, they say Frenkie could be the first player to come in under Ten Hag and Rio would say yes, great signing. Frenkie de Jong is not huge in terms of frame but he is fast on the ball, a really good dribbler, can get out of tight situations, makes good decisions, is a good passer, his balance and dribbling ability is really good. Man Utd is a team looking for players who can control the ball and control the game and get a team that functions in terms of balance and possession. Ferdinand thinks Frenkie de Jong would be a nice addition.

Barca ready to accept bid?

Ahead of another summer transfer window that will likely see Blaugrana hunt for cut-price purchases, the lure of selling big money for a star to boost their coffers may be too tough to turn down. Barça are ready to accept a €60m bid for Frenkie if Man Utd comes for his services. Other reports suggest, however, that the player has settled in La Liga, leaving the issue of personal terms as the main stumbling block for Man Utd to convince him to make a move.
