Former professional footballer Ferdinand lashed out at 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo’s critics, claiming it was “b * llocks” to blow up his pressure game at Man Utd – while adding that he would make a “f * cking great” sporting director.

Rio also discussed Cristiano’s work ethic and how, at 36, he had to adapt his training to make the greatest impact. Ferdinand added that recovering for his generation after a tough workout would be an off-road vehicle going to a bar. Even at Man Utd they would have done it if they didn’t have the game. But he was not on that, even then.
Cristiano Ronaldo did his food right. Ronaldo just wanted to improve himself. Sounds simple, but it takes a lot of dedication. It’s more intense now. When you sit with Ronaldo, he thinks about small percentages, small details, because he knows that he is at the last end of his career – he needs to care even more now.
This is probably his most important quality, beyond the physical attributes with which he was blessed. His thinking is unsurpassed. Ferdinand thinks he would see the Europa League as an excuse on his resume. That’s where his standards are. Cristiano Ronaldo has nine goals this season and they are almost all game-changing. This is madness. Rio does not know in the history of the game if the grip player was bigger than Ronaldo.
