The Red Devils should let Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo go if they’re not going to play him, says Rio Ferdinand, with the Portuguese currently seething.

A little about the topic

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to leave Old Trafford over the summer despite signaling the striker wanted to move on, but playing time was in short supply for an all-time great under new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was an unused substitute in Man Utd’s 2-0 victory over Tottenham, leading him down the tunnel before the game was even over, and Ferdinand believes Ronaldo will have to see the final months of his contract rip in January, if not the unfortunate situation will improve.

What did Ferdinand say about Cristiano Ronaldo?

Former English footballer Rio Ferdinand has spoken of the struggles the former teammate is enduring, that his only thought might be Cristiano Ronaldo being saved for the weekend against the Blues. According to Ferdinand, the only way he sees it, it is logical that Ronaldo did not play. Rio thinks Cristiano is going to be absolutely pissed off about this, naturally. Ferdinand wouldn’t have expected anything different from Cristiano.

Rio thought that Ten Hag’s big problem was that when he went to the next window, he had to think very carefully about what he was doing. If he doesn’t see Ronaldo as a starter in his team more often than not, Rio thinks he should release him from his contract. Erik has to let him go. “It’s not fair to anyone, to the club, to Ronaldo, to Erik, that the first question after every game is ‘Why didn’t Ronaldo start?

“You sit here and think why Man Utd didn’t just let him go if Ten Hag knew he didn’t want Ronaldo in his plans. It confuses me. You think what he did in his career… at his level. .. for sure the manager would have known before the start of the season if he was going to play Ronaldo or not, if he wanted him in his team, if he had someone to build around,” said the Englishman.

Rio Ferdinand says he now feels like it was not. If so, he should have let Cristiano go. According to Ferdinand, this will be something that prevents Erik from going forward until the day Cristiano leaves the club, due to how much of an icon and superstar he is.
