Ferran is hoping that Lewandowski reaches an agreement with Barca and can come to the club
Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has revealed that he turned down Real Madrid on several occasions before moving from Manchester City to the Camp Nou. Ferran, who joined the Catalans earlier this year, reflected on the club’s current position and the direction they are headed in this summer and beyond, admitting his excitement at the prospect of teaming up with Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski. “The fact that Robert Lewandowski is motivated to come to Barcelona is a source of pride. I hope he reaches an agreement and can come”, Ferran Torres said. “Joining Barcelona is already a huge thing, but to be called by Xavi Hernandez, with what a great player he has been, was decisive,” Ferran said. “He told me his ideas, his desire and I did everything I could to come to Barcelona.”
According to Torres Barca achieved their objective
On his time at Barcelona so far, the former Manchester City player admits that it hasn’t always been as easy as he might have liked. “It has been a difficult year because I had to leave Manchester City, I had a serious injury, and I arrived at Barcelona with a lot of hope,” Ferran said. “We turned things around a bit and qualified for the Champions League and the Supercopa de Espana, but we didn’t finish the season in the best way. I knew where I was coming from, that the club was in a difficult period and that we had to do our best to qualify for the Champions League because otherwise, it would have been a failure, and we achieved our objective. Now we must think about next season and try to win titles.”
The Spaniard want to learn when he fails
In his first months at Barcelona, Ferran has been haunted by the label of being a striker with few goals to his name, but it doesn’t get him down. “I have not been overwhelmed,” Ferran insisted. “I was very calm. I’m a winger, not a striker, but I can score, and when I can, I also have to give assists. I’m proud that I’ve given the team more beyond scoring goals, so I’m an ambitious player, and I want to learn when I fail. I don’t eat my head off because you can finish badly; I look back at things so I can improve. When I was young, I had several opportunities to sign for Real Madrid, but we saw that it wasn’t the right time,” Ferran said.
“At one time, I was at the World Cup, and I went up to the Valencia first team, and I think it went well.”
“The other were when I was a kid, and you give more importance to being closer to home.” Ferran Torres is romantically involved with Sira Martinez, daughter of national team coach Luis Enrique. The Barcelona striker made it very clear that his relationship with Luis Enrique is in a good place. “It’s perfect,” Ferran said, asking about their relationship. “He gave me total confidence from the first minute. It’s a professional relationship, and I’ll fight to the death for him. You have to be intelligent, it’s one thing to be professional, and then there’s the personal life.”
