Megan Rapinoe wins the Best Woman Player Award
It was no surprise to see Megan on stage. She is a world-class player and helped the US team to win the World Cup in July 2019. USA team dominated France and easily secured another World Cup Trophy in Paris. Megan won the best scorer’s and World Cup’s best player trophy in France. So, everything lead to her when Fifa announced Woman Best Player nominees.
Megan is an iconic football player in the US. Thirty-four years old player had a feud with the current president of the United States. Megan refused Trump’s invitation to the White House, and the President did not hold to criticize her. Megan and Trump’s feud was a big headliner story in summer.
Fifa Fifpro Men’s Team of the Year
Fifa surprised all of us again, and we could not believe our eyes. Organization included four Real Madrid players (Hazard now represents Real Madrid), and people were in shock. Real Madrid had a disaster season last yet, as the club could not win any trophies. Los Blancos ended with 19 points behind Barcelona.
Marcelo, Modric and Sergio Ramos had an average season last year. Surprisingly Fifa included them in a team of the year. There was no place for Liverpool’s defenders like Alexander-Arnold and Robertson. Marcelo spends half of the season on the bench, but still he is the main defender in Fifa’s team. It was shocking for everyone to see him in Fifa’s team.
No place for Manchester City players
Last week Pep Guardiola criticized Uefa and Fifa for not nominating Manchester City players. The Spanish coach said that both organizations misbehave towards City players. According to Guardiola, Bernardo Silva had a perfect season with the club and national team. Silva won all possible trophies on a local level (England) and Nation’s Trophy with Portugal in June.
Experts believe that Pep has valid arguments. Despite criticism, there was no place for Manchester players in Fifa Team of the Year.
Klopp is the best coach in 2019 according to Fifa
German coach had a fantastic year with Liverpool. The team won the Champions League and played the dominant game in the final match against Tottenham. Liverpool finished second in the Premier League as they needed two more points for the trophy. The Reds got historical record – the club has never reached 97 points in Premier League until last season.
