Real Madrid had a double helping of awards at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, where the Golden Foot awards gala was held , which every year honor an active player aged 29 or over (on this occasion Robert Lewandowski won it), but on this occasion, when celebrating its 20th anniversary, several world soccer legends were also awarded, as well as personalities from the world of sports, such as Florentino Pérez and Emilio Butragueno.

The president of Real Madrid won the Golden Foot Prestige Award , which distinguishes him for his career at the helm of the Madrid entity. The president, who was unable to attend the award ceremony, sent a message thanking him for the award: “I have dedicated a good part of my life to this club, which has always been and continues to be one of my great passions, as it is for millions of people all over the world. I work every day so that Real Madrid takes its rightful place due to its history and its record. This club is 120 years old and everything it represents is the product of the values ​​that have been passed down from generation to generation. Values ​​such as work, permanent improvement, humility, respect, solidarity and, above all, never giving up in the face of adversity. Being president of Real Madrid is also a great honor, a great responsibility.

For his part , Butragueno, who left his mark on Monaco’s seafront, known as the Champions’ Pass, also expressed his gratitude upon receiving the Golden Foot Legend Award : “I am very grateful, I am almost 60 years old and when suddenly remembering you is very gratifying. I stopped playing in 1998, a long time ago, so it’s a pleasure for me, an honor, to receive this recognition, taking into account the players and coaches who have received it as well.
