Marice: we want Camavinga at Rennes

Stade Rennais sporting director Florian Maurice made it clear that he wants Eduardo Camavinga to stay at the club. The 17-year-old Camavinga burst onto the scene in the 2019/20 season, and that aroused the interest of some of the largest teams in Europe, first of all, Real Madrid. “The Camavinga’s departure was not discussed,” Maurice told reporters. “There has never been any actual interest. Since my arrival in April, it was logical that we would do the project with him. If Real Madrid offers him €80 million, as I said, for him? The response is no. We want to keep up with him so that he continues to grow at Rennes. Florian nevertheless admitted, however, that Eduard may not be on the same wave as the club. “It should be noted that the footballer may desire to go and play elsewhere,” he said.

“I will listen to him, but at the moment, he has a contract with Rennes. And we will easily see how the transfer market works. It is not the first time that one of Rennes’s leaders comes out and says that he wants Camavinga to stay. At the end of May, club president Nicolas Holveck announced his belief that a midfielder would be better served by staying in the Brittany team. “For Eduardo Camavinga, the project should continue to progress at Rennes,” he said. “The next season should be one of his blessings here.”
