Renowned Australian cricketer Greg Chappell and former India coach has identified a shortfall in Shubman Gill ahead of the World Test Championship final between India and Australia at the Oval, which starts June 7. In the past few months, Gill has shown tremendous form in all formats and is all set to open the batting for India alongside skipper Rohit Sharma at the WTC final.

Chappell about Gill

Recently, in an interview, Chappell said, “I don’t want to go into too many details, but I’m sure the Australian team has seen a few things that I’ve seen. There are a few things Shubman does at the start of his innings that make him vulnerable. length around off stump, and if the ball bounces a bit too much, it will be an easy target to get caught behind the wicket. But he is a good player. If they don’t bowl well, he’ll definitely punish them.

Starc and Hazlewood can trouble Gill

Chappell further said, “Fast bowlers from Australia like Mitchell Starc can trouble Gill with his extra pace, and also Josh Hazlewood with his extra bounce. Gill has been to England before, , if Australia bowls well, he will struggle like anyone in these English conditions. Extra pace gets good players out, and Hazlewood can be a problem for Gill if he is fit to play. If Hazlewood doesn’t play, Bowland is most likely to play, and he is also a bowler who bowls a good line , he knows how good length can be in English conditions.

Former batsman praised the Indian cricket system

The Former batsman also praised Shubman Gill and the Indian cricket system, which nurtures young cricketers better than most teams in world cricket. They have sent them overseas and prepared well for international cricket. I have watched him a little bit on television , he looks like a good player. He has played a lot of cricket and scored many good runs in international cricket. For a 22-year-old, he is an experienced cricketer.
This IPL season also saw Shubman Gill’s exceptional form , as he scored three centuries and was also the highest run scorer of the season. He made a total of 890 runs and received an orange cap. Before the start of IPL , Gill also smashed a double hundred in an ODI match against New Zealand and is now all set to play for India in the WTC final.
