Who was Freddy Rincon?
A legend of Colombian soccer. He was born in Buenaventura on August 14, 1966 and defended the colors of Independiente Santa Fe and América de Cali in the first division of our country. He was in two big European clubs like Napoli and Real Madrid and the culmination of his professional career was in Brazilian soccer, going through Palmeiras, Corinthians, Santos and Cruzeiro. Extensive career in the Colombian National Team with participation in three World Cups: Italy 90, United States 94 and France 98. In the first of them he scored one of the most important and remembered goals in the history of the Tricolor, because in time served he took advantage the assistance of Carlos Valderrama to define between the legs of Bodo Illgner and seal the 1-1 against Germany at the San Siro, which qualified Francisco Maturana’s team for the round of 16.
How was the Rincon accident?
Rincon was traveling with three more people in the early hours of this Monday, April 11, in a private vehicle that collided with a feeder of Mío on Calle 5 with Carrera 34 in the Valle del Cauca capital. The bus, which later hit the column of a building, was totally destroyed in the front part, while the greatest damage to the truck was on the right side. From the first moment, with the initial medical report, the Imbanaco Clinic was clear about the critical state of health of the former soccer player, the procedures that were carried out over the hours, but there was no favorable evolution despite the efforts of the medical staff .
