Everton fans were enraged after their team suffered a humiliating defeat to Bournemouth, leaving the Toffees just a point above the relegation zone.

The Toffees were defeated 3-0 at the Vitality Stadium, with fans expressing their displeasure with their team’s performance in the aftermath. Lampard was forced to drag his players away from their own supporters, who were demonstrating angrily alongside his team.

Alex Iwobi’s shirt was also thrown back at him after he sent it into the stands, with a security wall forming a barrier. Lampard has defended Everton fans for their outrage, insisting that the incident with Iwobi was simply a “misunderstanding.”

“I think there was a bit of a misunderstanding, Alex [Iwobi] had some friends he was concerned about who were sort of in front of the fans, there was nothing in that, and the players just have to accept the fans have a right to voice their opinions,” he explained.

“Fans have every right to be disappointed.” They’ve come down here twice this week and witnessed poor performances both times. And before that, we were doing well, and then they saw performances they didn’t like. ” So, when we are happy that they are happy after Palace, when we are happy that they give us a welcome, we must understand that they have the right to voice their opinions today.”

“It’s not a pleasant situation, but sometimes you have to swallow your pride and admit that your performance was inadequate.” So you have to go over, and we understand that this is not the time to clap and cheer. It’s time to go over and [acknowledge] the fact that they’re there and that it wasn’t good enough.”

Marcus Tavernier, Keiffer Moore, and Jaidon Anthony scored to condemn the Toffees to a defeat that drops them to 17th in the table. And Lampard insisted that his players had failed to meet expectations on the south coast.

“The fans have every right to be dissatisfied today because they traveled down to support the club.” They’re brilliant for us at times, and today they can express themselves about the game because they probably feel the same way I do,” he told Sky Sports.

“They were sharper than us, more aggressive than us, and that’s the players’ and my fault.” I can’t run on the field, but I can talk to them before the game; however, they must show the action on the field, which they did not do today.

“It was a bad one.” To lose in the manner that we did. The game should be stopped because Tarkowski is in the six-yard box with a head injury. I believe we started well, but a mistake allows them to score.

“As a result, the game should come to an end.” We were told that rule two weeks ago because it happened to us, so I believe the referee erred on that one. I won’t rely too heavily on it. However, it is difficult to return to the game. At 2-0, it changes the tone of the game, but we have to accept responsibility for it, and it wasn’t enough.”
