Fred, a midfielder for Manchester United, believes that if the club is to succeed under Erik ten Hag, the players must eliminate any dressing room cliques.
United had their worst season in the Premier League era due to rumors of team division and a toxic culture.
Fred cautioned that cannot happen again if Ten Hag wants to reverse United’s woes, but feels the Dutchman has already begun to implement “new regulations” to address the issue.
According to reports, Ten Hag instructed his players to put the team before themselves.
“We must be unified,” Fred remarked in Bangkok, Thailand, during the club’s preseason tour in Thailand.
All facets of the previous season were difficult, which is difficult. This season, with a new manager and new rules already in place, we will want to unite and stick together, as our squad must.’ We must be powerful, and in order to be strong, we must be together. We aim to be focused and resilient. Erik can help us maintain our unity. We have not won any trophies in recent years.
Obviously, something must alter for success to be achieved. If something is not functioning, you must strive for success. I am confident that Ten Hag is aware of this and will do everything he can to help Manchester United return to the top, where they never should have left.
It is crucial for us to have a strong coach who has the final say on the team. It offers us protection and is of great assistance.
He is meticulous in his work and has his own unique details. All of the daily particulars. It is quite useful for our daily work. Everyone on the field must do their utmost to assist the team.
Fred admitted that everyone at the club through a difficult season last year, but he has seen enough of Ten Hag to feel that he is the man to turn things around.
“Last season was challenging, but that is in the past,” the Brazilian continued. We are aware that it was subpar and not what we desired. I am confident that Erik is here to accomplish great things and win things.
We have a tremendous deal of faith in him and are entirely behind him. We hope to accomplish a great deal, and I am confident that we will.
“He is a fantastic coach. Training is beneficial and tough. We intend to implement his advice into our everyday training. I hope that we will be successful in the future. Obviously, it will not be simple, nor will it occur overnight. We will strive to do our best as soon as feasible.
United are aiming to replace Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic with new midfielders this summer, but Fred would welcome the competition as he prepares for his fifth season at Old Trafford since joining for £52 million from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018.
Fred stated, “Pogba was a tremendous player here, but he has since gone on.” We wish him the best of luck. There will always be rivalry. We are one of the largest clubs in the world.
‘Players joining us will want to play, and so will those of us who are already here, so there will be competition. I’ve had a fantastic four years here. A club that has accepted me and helped me tremendously has been really significant to me.
I aim to continue giving back in games, but I must perform my duties on the field. It has been a fantastic four years for me, and I still want to win many championships with Manchester United.’
