Frenkie de Jong, according to reports, will only agree to leave Barcelona for Chelsea this summer because he has no desire to join Manchester United.

United sought the 25-year-old throughout the transfer window, and an agreement was reached with the Catalan giants to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Holland international, on the other hand, has made it obvious that he does not want to join the Red Devils, and has even confessed in past reports that he is’very thankful’ to his former boss Erik ten Hag for targeting him.
The former Ajax star is claimed to have serious reservations about how United operates, with the player believing that management operates ‘erratically,’ which discourages him from reuniting with his former manager.
According to Sport, he would only leave the LaLiga team for a transfer to Stamford Bridge since Chelsea has Champions League football.

He is also believed to value the ‘project’ and’structure’ being constructed by new controlling owner Todd Boehly.

According to the same source, Thomas Tuchel’s side are unwilling to spend as much as Manchester United for De Jong, with Barcelona desperate to get rid of him if he does not agree to decrease his wages.

However, given the two clubs’ ongoing transfer rivalry, they may be hesitant to deal De Jong to the Blues.

Chelsea have sought to prevent Marcos Alonso from joining Barcelona after the Catalan club grabbed Jules Kounde from them.

According to sources, the Blues are also hesitant to allow fellow defender Cesar Azpilicueta to finalize his move to the Nou Camp in what is turning out to be a combative and complicated series of discussions.

It comes after Barcelona swooped for £55 million Sevilla defender Kounde after Chelsea’s offer was rejected.

Andreas Christensen has already moved from Chelsea to Barcelona this summer, but it is now unclear whether Alonso and Azpilicueta will follow.

Furthermore, tensions between the two clubs have risen as a result of the Kounde agreement.

Chelsea thought they had signed the France international after Sevilla agreed to their £55 million deal, but Barcelona made a last-minute move to outbid them.

Earlier last summer, Barcelona used a similar tactic to derail Chelsea’s pursuit of Raphinha from Leeds United.

Chelsea came close to signing Kounde, 23, last summer, and there was a strong conviction in Spain earlier this year that a move to Stamford Bridge was unavoidable once the Todd Boehly buyout was finalised.

However, the player prefers to join Barcelona, and the club even briefly sold his shirt number on their online store. It was promptly removed.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have reacted angrily and are apparently willing to obstruct Alonso and Azpilicueta’s moves to the Nou Camp.
