Team India is currently gearing up for their full series against the West Indies, which starts on July 12. The West Indies tour includes two test match series, three ODIs, and five T20s. As we all know, the West Indies failed to qualify for the 2023 World Cup, so they will also try to bring their best in this series and move on from their disappointing World Cup qualifier performance. India suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the World Championship final, so they will be focusing on getting better. With the World Cup 2023 just a few months away, India’s main focus will be on preparing for the prestigious event. Meanwhile, India will also take part in a bilateral series against Ireland and then the Asia Cup, followed by an ODI series against Australia. This will give the BCCI and Rahul Dravid a clear picture for finalizing the squad for the World Cup.

Former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has also stated some important facts on the same matter and focused his attention on spinners, especially when the World Cup is hosted by India this year. Ganguly listed a few options and appealed to the BCCI to keep a close watch on Yuzvendra Chahal, who is somehow always overlooked in the big tournaments. He said, “Bishnoi and Kuldeep Yadav are there as strong options, but Chahal somehow misses out on the prestigious tournaments. He has been consistent in ODI and T20 formats, so it is important to keep an eye on him.

The former Indian captain also went on to explain the advantages of the Wrist spinners, whom he believes will give the team an edge against tough opponents like Australia, South Africa, and England. He said, “When the team plays in these conditions, spinners always make the difference. There was Piyush Chawla in 2011, who bowled well. When the Indian team went to South Africa in 2007, spinners bowled really well.
