Wales had a successful 1st half. Bale’s team won the first 45 minutes and conceded 0 goals from Azerbaijan. Wales had up to 60% ball possession and two shots on target, while Azerbaijan could not even have a shot on target in the first half.
After a long cross in Azerbaijan’s penalty area, Pashaev scored an own goal. Wales won the first half, but the game was not as aggressive or creative as Welsh’s were expecting.
2nd half of the game
Wales started the second half aggressively but could not convert their shots into the goals. On 59th minute, Azerbaijan scored a goal after Hennessey’s error. The goalkeeper could not keep the ball, and Emreli scored the goal.
After the goal, Azerbaijan players believed in their skills and had few successful counter-attacks. Azerbaijan scored three goals in the second half but lost the game after Bale’s later winner shot. As the British football fans love, dramatic moment came after 85th minute. The same scenario happened yesterday – Gareth Bale scored the winner and got three points for the nation.
Ryan Giggs was disappointed with his players
Wale’s head coach was not happy with results despite three points. Wales won the second match in the group and still has a chance to qualify for Euro 2020, but Ryan was not happy. The coach was very frustrated as he did not like the quality of the game.
After four games, Gareth Bale’s national team is on the third position and has only six points. Meanwhile, Hungary and Croatia top the group and hypothetically they have better chances for Euro 2020. Wales has the same amount of points as Slovakia, and they will face each other in October 2019. It will be the toughest and the most crucial game for Wales in 2019.
