On May 21st (Sunday), Royal Challengers Bangalore played their last league stage match against Gujarat Titans at the Chinnaswamy stadium, The match was do or die for them as they needed to win it for qualifying in playoffs, but unfortunately RCB lost the match and Mumbai Indians got the final spot in the playoffs. Millions of fans were left heartbroken by their franchise’s defeat.
Kohli posted a heartfelt message
Two days after the defeat, Virat Kohli posted a heartfelt message for RCB fans, and Shubman Gill, who shattered their dream of qualifying with his exceptional performance also commented on the post in a great way. The scenario on the last day of the league stage was that RCB needed the final win if Mumbai Indians defeat Sunrisers in their final match. MI managed to secure the victory against SRH, and it became mandatory for RCB to win their match against GT.
RCB thanked all the fans
Gujarat won the toss and chose to field, and while batting first RCB managed to put a score of 197 on board. We saw an epic century from Virat’s bat that day, as he made 101 runs out of 61 balls. In the second innings Shubman Gill also scored a century for Gujarat, and RCB lost the match by six wickets. A day after the loss, Virat posted a Thank You message for fans and wrote ”A season which had it’s moments but unfortunately we fell short of the goal. Disappointed but we must hold our heads high.
