Former Juventus President Giovanni Gilgi has made a controversial statement that signing Cristiano Ronaldo was a ‘mistake’. Ronaldo

Gigli made a statement that Juventus should “free Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the season.” He also claimed Juve is paying the Portuguese €1m per goal.

Responding to the question on whether Ronaldo was the wrong choice for Juve, Gigli answered, “Absolutely, yes!”

“I said that on his very first day at Juventus. He is a great champion but is too expensive,” he added.

“Now it’s up to Juventus. They’ve been paying him €1m per goal. [Juve president Andrea] Agnelli must be self-critical, but he doesn’t have great collaborators,” he said.

“The club should free Ronaldo at the end of the season and the same goes for (Fabio) Paratici,” he stated.

“Maybe Agnelli had promoted him to remove him from his position afterward. He suggested, “This could be the scenario.”

The former Manchester United signed a four-year deal when he arrived in Italy and is due to run until summer 2022. An extension is expected but big decisions are going to have to be made.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro has hit back at the supporters’ liaison officer, Fernando Saul after a controversial comment.

Saul wrote on Instagram, “Let’s take revenge on Basel against the Italian thieves.

“Let’s take revenge on the pig Ronaldo for what he did to O Dragao. What a proud breed, this is Porto. Now I’m waiting for the video of Dolores and the other toothless family members.”

Ronaldo’s sister responded, “You are the pig!”

She continued, “Clean your mouth to talk about who you will neither reach in this life nor in 1000 more lives.

“We are going to give a little protagonism to an ignorant and clearly disturbed person.

“I look forward to a day when I meet you face to face. Me, my mum and my brothers and see if you have them … in place and talk to our face,” part of her response reads.
