Glenn Maxwell to miss Pakistan tour

Therefore, the Australian star will miss out on Australia’s upcoming tour of Pakistan, followed by the initial stages of the Indian Premier League 2022.

Australia’s tour to Pakistan will commence on March 4 and comprises three Tests and as many ODIs. Most of the players David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Matthew Wade, Marcus Stoinis, and Daniel Sams will be partaking in the series.

These players will also miss out on the initial stages of the IPL 2022 but join later on after returning from the Pakistan tour by the first week of April.

“Originally when I organized the dates with CA there was a two-week gap where I could potentially have it,” Maxwell said.

“So when I sorted that out I was pretty happy that I wasn’t going to be missing in any series. And then I came to the [CA] contract meeting midway through last year and they said well this is [when] the Pakistan series [is on] and I thought well obviously that’s changed since the last conversation we had” he added.

Maxwell was one of the retentions of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega auctions. He was on the retention list alongside Virat Kohli and Mohammed Siraj.

As a matter of fact, Maxwell had already hinted that he would miss out on the Pakistan series in November last year at the end of the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Australia is touring Pakistan for a bilateral series after a gap of 24 years. The last time the Australian team toured Pakistan was in 1998.
