THE GOAL POST | English Premier League Match Week 30 Preview & Prediction
In a new episode of the Goal Post, Dana and Justin will preview the Premier League. Dana and Justin will preview next matches: Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United, Everton vs Liverpool, and Aston Villa vs Chelsea.
Tottenham Vs. Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday with a whim crashed out of the Champions League, but on Sunday should get close to face Manchester United. The Spurs are four points behind United in the Champions League race, so a loss here would only complete their chances.
Ole Gunnar Solskjär last weekend watched as his side beat the current Champions League 2-0. They are now unbeaten in five league starts and a touching distance from Chelsea in the fourth.
Manchester United must go to Austria to receive LASK in the Europa League on Thursday; The match, which will be held without fans. Coronavirus affects many of Europe’s top football leagues, but as far as we know, at the moment, the Premier League seats, in general, will not be affected.
Everton Vs. Liverpool
Monday night treats us to the Merseyside derby, and perhaps one, like no other. If Manchester City drops points against either Arsenal or Burnley, then Liverpool can seal the league home of their rivals.
Everton faces the tough task of defeating the Reds, which they only managed once in 22 matches. Can Toffees recover from its 4-0 beating Chelsea and pour some rain on the Liverpool title game?
Everton improved dramatically under Carlo Ancelotti, although you could not have said last weekend. Toffees dominated the Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and coped with a seasonal minimum of three throws the whole game. They were poor at the back, and some schoolboy defending them was expensive. The blue side of Mercy is now innocently at three.
Two matches ago, Liverpool suffered a shock defeat from Watford but rebounded from a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth. The win was far from comfortable, but Cherry was the creator of his fall. The Reds on Wednesday in their last 16 links of the Champions League take Atletico de Madrid; Liverpool track 1-0 there, and you feel that the match could set the tone for the derby.
Aston Villa Vs. Chelsea
Odds on for relegation, Aston Villa come into this Premier League clash after four straight league losses, all of which saw them down at the break. What’s more, their last two saw them concede six without reply, contributing to a league-high average of 2.0 goals conceded per league game and ten HT/FT defeats.
At home, five of Villa’s last six Premier League matches have seen both teams score and over 2.5 goals. Nine of their 13 home Premier League games have seen both sides net, while a league-high 53.85% of their matches here have seen over 1.5 first-half goals.
Chelsea arrives after an impressive 4-0 win over Everton, which saw them score in each half, a feat they have achieved in 37.93% of Premier League games this term. Only down at the break on seven occasions this Premier League season, six of those nonetheless turned into HT/FT losses.
Despite being winless in four away Premier League games, the Blues have still won 24 points on their travels and rank as the league’s third-best away team. Three of those last four saw them net first, a scenario seen in ten of their away league games. That, along with 16 first-half away Premier League goals, means Chelsea failed to find the target in the first period in only five road trips.
Villa captain Jack Grealish has seven Premier League goals and six assists. Meanwhile, Chelsea defender Mikel Alonso has three goals in his last three Premier League games.
Chelsea have won four of the last five H2Hs here. Chelsea have won both halves in five Premier League away matches.
Villa have won two of seven as a Premier League home outsider, while Chelsea have won six of eight when an away favorite. Four of Villa’s last seven competitive matches have ended 2-1.
