Buaksib Asia presents the preview of match week 32 & 33 of English Premier League season 2019/2020 ‘Project Restart’.
Highlighting upcoming games of match week 32, Sheffield United Vs Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City Vs Liverpool & match week 33 focusing on Wolves Vs Arsenal.
Sheffield United Vs. Tottenham Hotspur
Sheffield United are winless in their last four matches and have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League games. They’ve now conceded after the 60th minute in all nine Premier League losses this term. Although three of the previous four Premier League goals they scored came before half-time. The ‘Blades’ have kept a clean sheet in six of their seven Premier League home victories this season; four ended 1-0. They remain without a Premier League home goal inside the first 15 minutes, but they’ve not conceded hereafter the 80th minute. Furthermore, Chris Wilder’s team have failed to score in four home league losses running.
Tottenham Hotspur ended a seven-match winless streak in all competitions with a 2-0 win over West Ham United. They’ve scored in eight straight Premier League clashes, averaging 1.75 goals per game across that period. Additionally, their previous two matches featured a goal beyond 80 minutes. And they’ve outscored opponents 9-6 after the 75th minute this Premier League campaign. A worry for Jose Mourinho is that Spurs have won only four of their past 22 competitive away fixtures. Under his management, they’ve retained one apart clean sheet overall, while three of their last four away games contained over 2.5 goals. All three Premier League away wins under Mourinho included over 2.5 goals and both teams scoring.
Players to watch: Sheff Utd captain Billy Sharp has scored a first-half goal in their previous two Premier League home wins. Spurs striker Harry Kane netted his latest two goals after the 80th minute, with five of his six most recent Premier League goals arriving.
Stat attack: Sheff Utd have conceded first in 54.84% of their Premier League encounters this season (17).
Spurs have an inconsistent Premier League away record when scoring first.
Sheff Utd have failed to beat any Premier League opponent currently above them in the table this season.
Manchester City Vs. Liverpool
With seven rounds left of the Premier League season, Manchester City welcome newly-crowned champions, Liverpool, to the Etihad. Goals and cards look a possibility if the last six Premier League H2Hs are anything to go – there’s been an average of 4.5 yellow cards and 3.5 goals per meeting across that period! City have won six of their last seven Premier League home matches, scoring at least twice in all seven games, while winning four of them ‘to nil’ and covering a -1.5 handicap. City games have averaged 3.55 total goals per Premier League match so far (any venue), with 74.19% of their overall matches featuring over 2.5 goals, and 48.39% seeing over 3.5.
Liverpool travels here without a win or even a goal in four straight competitive away matches, although their 0.6 goals conceded on average per Premier League road fixture is unrivaled in the league.
The visitors might rely on historical momentum, though. Since Chelsea lost at West Bromwich in 2015, newly-crowned Premier League champions have gone during the remainder of the season. Furthermore, Liverpool may gain motivation from the fact they are still gunning for five different Premier League records: most points, most wins, the most home wins, away wins, and biggest win margin (in points).
Players to watch: Kevin de Bruyne has three goals in four competitive matches since the restart – two were penalties. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has four goals in eight games against City and hunts his third Golden Boot award.
Stat attack: Just one of City’s last six competitive matches saw both teams score.
City have scored at least one first-half goal in three straight PL home matches – and the two most recent home H2Hs.
Liverpool have gone on to win all 21 PL matches in which they led at half-time.
Wolves Vs. Arsenal
Ahead of kick-off, Wolves are unbeaten in eight Premier League outings. Impressively, Wolves are also unbeaten in home league matches played this season against teams finishing fifth or lower in the football pyramid last season. Wolves remain entirely perfect in the post-hiatus era of this Premier League season. In turn, Each of Wolves’ recent six league victories have seen them win the second half to-nil. With none of their post-restart matches producing a goal before the 60th minute.
Such late drama may not favor Arsenal, as – if excluding penalty goals – four of Arsenal’s last five Premier League away goals conceded have come between the 75th minute and FT. Also of interest is that the period beyond the hour mark has generated an average of 3.0 total goals across Arsenal’s last two Premier League away games to see both teams score.
Sadly for the ‘Gunners,’ they have failed to win in every away league match entered as betting outsiders this term. They also lost the corresponding fixture last season by a 3-1 scoreline, though won the second half 1-0.
Players to watch: Diogo Jota scored Wolves’ final goal in last season’s corresponding fixture. Wolves are unbeaten across his four previous goalscoring Premier League games this term.
Goal machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged a goal either side of HT in Arsenal’s last game. Three of his previous five Premier League goals have come between the 31st-60th minute period and proven decisive.
Stat attack: Just one individual half (of 16) across Wolves’ last eight league games has seen both teams score.
Exactly 75% (three) of Arsenal’s last four goals scored during a Premier League away game won/drawn have come from a player aged under 22.
Three (60%) of Arsenal’s last five Premier League away matches drawn/lost have seen one of their men dismissed via a straight red card.
