Chelsea is purposing on signing a new striker this summer and Erling Haaland, Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane are the three potential options the Blues could turn to if they miss out on their first-choice targets.

Chelsea hasn’t exactly been subtle ahead of the summer transfer window. The club is in need of a striker and already, they have ensured the rest of European football is aware of that.

Three names have therefore been placed at the top of the club’s list-Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, Romelu Lukaku from Inter Milan, and Harry Kane from Spurs.

Haaland is the most logical striker option for the Blues. At 20-years only, the Norwegian appears to still get better in the seasons ahead of him. Nonetheless, the problem lies with his current club, BVB. The club is aware of Chelsea’s interests in the youngster but isn’t willing to sell unless a fee excess of £150m which is higher for the Blues is received.

With Lukaku, he had earlier in his career spent time at Stamford Bridge and wasn’t trusted by Mourinho. Later, he was sold to Everton. Now at Inter, the Belgian has spearheaded the Italian side to the Serie A title.

Conte’s departure from Inter appeared to award Chelsea some hope of signing the natural striker. But, last week, the 28-year-old crushed Chelsea’s ambitions when he announced “I am staying (in Inter Milan)”.

Chelsea’s option three, Harry Kane is very much the full package and is at the peak of his powers. At Tottenham, the talisman produced his best during the 2020/21 season and finished the league as the leader in the number of goals and assists. However, Daniel Levy is a problem. The Spurs chairman would rather sell Kane to any club but not Chelsea hence making the deal almost impossible.

What Chelsea chooses to do next is intriguing. It’s either they smash their transfer record to sign one of the above, call off their striker pursuit and try again in 12 months or they search elsewhere given Tuchel doesn’t appear to be convinced by either Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud.
