Inter Milan longed for another creative influence on their books, with the former enemy now being acquired as a free agent.

A little about Hakan Calhanoglu

Hakan Calhanoglu officially joined Inter after allowing his contract with Milan to collapse. Inter has been in the market for an attacking playmaker after seeing star midfielder Christian Eriksen go into cardiac arrest during Euro 2020. It is not known if Christian Eriksen, equipped with a defibrillator, will be able to play football again. Despite this, the Nerazzurri have now announced the signing by Turkey of international Calhanoglu on a three-year deal. In a statement posted on their official website, Inter said FC Internazionale Milano could confirm that Hakan Calhanoglu has joined the Nerazzurri.

The 27-year-old midfielder signed a deal with the club until June 30, 2024. There is such information that Milan’s offer was € 4 million per season, plus a bonus of about € 500,000, which they first made in January and never raised, despite Hakan Calhanoglu’s hesitation to sign the renewed terms. Instead, he will reportedly earn € 5 million plus a € 1 million bonus on Inter. He is moving after his participation in this summer’s European Championship has come to an end and Turkey bowed in the group stage.

Hakan Calhanoglu presents another hit

Milan saw striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic commit to a new one-year contract with San Siro, and the loan to Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea turned into a permanent transfer. They failed, however, to convince top-rated goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to stay put, with a 22-year Italian international shutdown on the move to PSG. The loss to Hakan Calhanoglu represents another blow to the Rossoneri, while Inter who now have Simone Inzaghi in charge following Antonio Conte’s departure are working to keep them competitive at home and in Europe for 2021-22.
