11 years ago, Indian cricket team won the World Cup for the second time since its inception. MS Dhoni led his side to the victory by hitting a mighty six to finish it up in style. Now, then part of the team, Harbhajan Singh has made some explicit comments about the team.

Harbhajan Singh, a former cricketer and part of the world-winning team, has now openly expressed his displeasure over this. The 41-year-old off-spinner took a jibe at MS Dhoni and vented his anger. Bhajji asked in a questioning tone that if MS Dhoni had won the World Cup alone, did the rest of the players go there to drink only lassi.

Actually, India registered the 2011 World Cup victory after a long wait of 28 years. Everyone played well from the group stages to the grand stage. However, whenever the World Cup is mentioned somewhere, the credit is usually given to the then captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his captaincy. But many players who were part of this victory do not like this thing and they have often expressed their displeasure about it.

Harbhajan Singh has also played under Dhoni’s captaincy in the Indian team and Chennai Super Kings. This year, he is a part of the commentary panel in the IPL. Due to this, when Harbhajan was talking about the match between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders, during a discussion during that time, he started mentioning the World Cup.

Irfan Pathan and Mohammad Kaif were also part of the discussion in the experts panel before the match on IPL broadcaster Star Sports. During this, Harbhajan said, “When Australia wins the World Cup, everyone says that Australia won the World Cup. But when India won the World Cup, everyone started saying that MS Dhoni won the World Cup. So the rest went there to drink lassi?”

He further added, “What did the rest of the 10 players do? What did Gautam Gambhir do? What did the other players do. It is a team game, when 7 or 8 players of a team do better, only then the team progresses.”

Before Harbhajan Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh had also commented on this matter. They have put forward the same view that MS Dhoni had not only won that World Cup but it was the contribution of the entire team.
