Hardik Pandya Reveals How Dhoni’s Advice Changed His Game Positively
Hardik Pandya is currently in good form. Recently, while captaining Gujarat Titans, Hardik took the team to the IPL title victory in the first year itself. Speaking in the post match on Friday, he revealed MS Dhoni’s advice early in his career that helped him become a better player.
Hardik Pandya recently made a comeback to the Indian team during the T20I series against South Africa in which he made some significant contributions. His inclusion came on the back of a sensational IPL with Gujarat Titans, where he proved his form and fitness, earning him the title. Pandya scored 487 runs in IPL while also taking 8 wickets.
However, the most impressive aspect of his game was his leadership ability, which led to him being named the Indian captain for the two-match T20I series against Ireland later this month.
Hardik Pandya has been in good form during the current five-match series, having scored 117 runs in four matches at a strike rate of 153.94 at an average of 58.50. His partnership with Dinesh Karthik was crucial in India’s competitive total during the fourth T20I in Rajkot, helping them level the series 2-2.

While talking with Dinesh Karthik after the game on BCCI.tv, Pandya talked about the mindset that he adopts while stepping out to bat. “For me, nothing really changes because I play (according to the situation), I play for the symbol that’s on my jersey. The only thing I obviously want to get better with is time, That is how easily and repeatedly I keep working. I did it for Gujarat Titans and Bharat.”
Pandya also revealed a simple advice from MS Dhoni, which has helped him immensely in his career so far when it comes to batting for his side. “In my early days, Mahi bhai taught me one thing. I asked him how do you get away with pressure and everything. And he gave me a very simple piece of advice, ‘Stop thinking about your score and this Start thinking what your team needs’ So, that lesson stuck in my mind and helped me become the player I am, to play in any situation,” Pandya said.
Pandya also heaped praise on Karthik, who called him an “inspiration” for his impressive comeback in the team. Pandya said, “I need to tell you this, actually I want to tell you this, you have given a lot of inspiration to many people in their life. I remember the conversation when you were not in the scheme of things, many People counted you.” The decider of the series between India and South Africa will be played on June 19 in Bengaluru.
