Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya’s confidence is in seventh heaven after securing a very close win against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 40th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. But at the same time his feet remain on the ground.
Pandya said after his stunning five-wicket win against Hyderabad that he feels that God is telling him ‘you guys are good, I will help you’.
After the match, Pandya said, “I keep joking in the dressing room that God is telling us ‘You guys are good, I will help you’. This (close win) is happening so often that I fear we may have bad luck in the knockout games.”
He said, “We keep a very calm atmosphere (in the dressing room) and everyone is coming forward. We are making sure that the players get good support.”
On his fitness, he said, “It’s just a conscious decision to manage my bowling workload, plan to bowl whenever the team needs me.”
With the win against Hyderabad, Gujarat has moved to the first place in the IPL 2022 points table by winning 7 out of 8 matches.
However, the road to the playoffs is still long and Pandya does not want to get excited ahead of time.
He said, “It is a long tournament and I do not want to get excited too soon. We are very practical, we have talked about winning these conditions and there is a lot of confidence in the camp.”
Pandya further said, “It is important to remain calm in the dugout, a lot of credit goes to the support staff for how they are handling the players.”
