Harry Kane continued his astonishing goalscoring as the Bayern Munich striker scored a 25-yard screamer at Wolfsburg.
The 30-year-old, Harry Kane, powered a unstoppable shot into the top corner two minutes before the break to double Bayern’s lead on Wednesday night.
The England captain has now been involved in 26 goals in the league with his 21 goals and five assists, equalling the tally for the entire 2022/23 season of Randal Kolo Muani, who had the most goal involvements.
Jamal Musiala, the youngest Bayern player to reach 100 Bundesliga matches, headed the visitors into the lead after a pinpoint cross from Thomas Mueller in the 33rd minute.
Wolfsburg cut the deficit just before half-time after Maximilian Arnold was given too much space at the edge of the box to beat keeper Manuel Neuer with his shot.
The Bavarians soaked up considerable pressure and Neuer blocked another Arnold shot in stoppage time to protect their 2-1 lead.
Bayern are in second place on 38 points with a game in hand and with leaders Bayer Leverkusen on 42 heading into the winter break.
Kane had become the quickest player to ever reach 20 goals in the league by scoring twice at Stuttgart on Sunday.
After Thomas Muller and Kim Min-jae had goals disallowed for offside, striker Kane headed in Bayern’s second from close range.
Kim netted the third with a header, his first goal for the German champions.
Kane has reached 20 league goals in his opening 14 Bundesliga games, demolishing the old record set by Hamburg legend Uwe Seeler, who took 21 games to reach that mark in the league’s first season back in 1963-64.
Manchester City striker Erling Haaland, then of Borussia Dortmund, was next with 22 games in 2020.
The England captain is the second player ever to score 20 goals this quickly in a Bundesliga season, after Bayern and Germany legend Gerd Muller in 1968-69.
Kane has also delivered five assists in the league as well as scoring four goals in the Champions League.
