Harry Kane says Tottenham are still happy with manager
English footballer Harry Kane insists Tottenham’s squad are still happy with manager Conte despite form fluctuations in recent weeks, while the England forward admits he should be held responsible for a sub-par start to the season.
What did Harry Kane say?
Antonio Conte took over from Espirito Santo at the helm last fall and oversaw a run of superb form into the new year before a string of staggering results left their challenge for a Champions League spot on thin ice. A five-goal thriller loss to Man Utd on Saturday provided another setback, but while Harry admits his side is in transition, he says the team is still happy to be under Antonio’s.
Harry Kane said that apparently he still feels they are in the process. According to Kane they went two or three years to get the trophies and then they landed the last couple of years. With Conte, he is building the culture he wants to be and wants to bring them back there. PL, it’s such a thin line between calling or being a 4 or being a 6th, 7th or 8th. Every team gets better and there are no easy games.
Of course, the manager is working as best he can, and the players are working. This is not a quick fix that happens overnight, it takes time and understanding. Of course, he mentioned that he needs to talk to the club and the chairman and see what direction they need to go as a club. According to Harry Kane, from his point of view, the players’ point of view, they can’t speak highly enough of him.
Kane looks to its own standards
After being the subject of Man City’s protracted courtship following England’s Euro 2020 final last year, Harry looked ready to leave Tottenham, only to have the club beat back a string of offers. The whole saga seemed to have affected the player’s presence on the field during the first weeks of the season and although he has gradually returned to better form, the striker admits that he is aware that he underestimated his reputation for the term.
Harry Kane added that he is the first to look at his own standards. In PL, towards the first few months or so, Kane was not at the level he always achieved. According to Harry Kane there was no time to panic or sulk, it was time to work hard and since Conte came in they had a good understanding with each other. As a player, if they improve under the guidance of a coach, that’s the most important thing.
