Harry Kane continued his electric start to life at Bayern by plundering a sensational hat-trick as the German giants thrashed Dortmund 4-0.
The England captain, Harry Kane, has adapted to life in the Bundesliga seamlessly since quitting Tottenham in the summer. He headed into Saturday night’s derby showdown with two trebles to his name already this term including a hat-trick against Darmstadt last week.
Kane would go on to make it back-to-back hat-tricks with a clinical showing against Bayern’s largest domestic rivals, who were steamrolled on their own patch. And his latest three goal haul means the former Spurs man has already smashed a Bundesliga record since swapping the Premier League for Germany.
Kane’s tally of 15 goals for Bayern is the most any player in history has amassed in their first 10 Bundesliga matches. It also means he has now bagged 20 goals for the season with 10 of those coming in his last five games for both club and country.
Unsurprisingly, his imperious form has made a huge impact in Bayern’s bid to retain the German title. However, Thomas Tuchel ‘s side are still behind Bayer Leverkusen in the standings – even in spite of their dominant win against Dortmund, who were left shellshocked at Signal Iduna Park.
Leverkusen remain two points clear at the summit after the league leaders underlined their own title credentials with a gritty 3-2 win over Hoffenheim.
“Why did we win today? Despite the cracks in the team and the lack of development? Lothar definitely knows. If not him, then certainly Didi. I’m very happy with my team, everything was great,” Tuchel said.
“It was a top match, we put in a top performance. I’m happy for the team. We created a lot of chances to score and deserved to win here. We did a lot of things well today, it can’t be as bad as what has been written.
“Today we won 4-0, now you [journalists] have to do a 180. Have fun. You can do your job now, but without me,”
