Harshit Rana, a promising cricketer from North Zone, made a significant impact by scoring his maiden First-Class century during the Duleep Trophy quarterfinal match against North East Zone in Bengaluru.

Rana’s impressive century came off just 75 balls and played a crucial role in helping North Zone surpass the 500-run mark in the first innings. Prior to Rana’s stellar performance, Dhruv Shorey (135) and Nishant Sindhu (150) had also registered centuries for the team.

Interestingly, Harshit Rana is primarily known for his bowling skills rather than his batting prowess. Having played only four First-Class matches prior to the 2023 Duleep Trophy, he had never scored above 58 runs in a single innings, which he achieved while playing for Delhi against Hyderabad in the Ranji Trophy.

Notably, Rana also had a stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023, where he featured in six matches and took five wickets. His all-round abilities make him a valuable asset to any team.

The opening day of the quarterfinal witnessed a magnificent century from former Chennai Super Kings player Dhruv Shorey, who was representing North Zone.

Meanwhile, Nishant Sindhu, a current CSK player, also showcased his batting prowess by reaching the three-figure mark. These remarkable performances have put North Zone in a commanding position to post a mammoth total on the scoreboard.

Despite his early dismissal, Easwaran, another player representing North Zone, remains determined to earn a spot in the Indian national team.

The 27-year-old opener, who was unfortunately dismissed LBW off the first ball of the innings, will be disappointed but eager to make amends. Easwaran has consistently performed well in domestic cricket and will look to pile on more runs to catch the attention of the national selectors.

In his illustrious First-Class career, Easwaran has accumulated an impressive total of 6,557 runs in 87 matches, boasting an average of nearly 48. This remarkable feat includes 22 centuries and 26 fifties.

Undoubtedly, Easwaran possesses immense potential, but he needs to maintain his consistent run-scoring form to secure a place in the Indian Test team. All eyes will be on him to see if he can redeem himself in the second innings and continue to showcase his batting prowess.
