Harvey Elliott is one of two changes to XI Klopp’s, and Jordan Henderson also returned to an early start at Anfield.

Harvey Elliott kicks off

The 18-year-old will make his first Premier League start for Liverpool in their clash with Burnley on Saturday. Harvey Elliott was named in Klopp’s XI opening start at lunchtime at Anfield. Harvey kicks off in midfield with Naby Keita and Red captain Henderson, who will be the first in the campaign.

There were others

Jurgen Klopp made two changes to the side that beat Norwich in the opening weekend of the season. Both come in midfield, where Harvey Elliott and Jordan Henderson replace James Milner and Oxlade-Chamberlain, both named on the bench. Fabinho is bored after receiving a sympathetic leave following the death of his father Joao Roberto earlier this week.

Andy Robertson returned to the named lineup as a backup, making an earlier than expected rebound from an ankle injury. Greek International Tsimikas kicks off with a left-back. The rest of the side remains unchanged, with Van Dijk performing at Anfield for the first time since October 1, 2020, while Diogo Jota preferred Firmino in attack.

A little about Harvey Elliott

Liverpool has high hopes for Harvey Elliott, who joined the club from Fulham in the summer of 2019. The teen is already the youngest player to appear in a Premier League game, stepping off the Cottagers’ bench at the Wolves in April 2019 at just 16 years and 30 days. He played eight matches for the Reds in his first season, and was part of the team that won the European Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Premier League crown.

Harvey Elliott went on loan to Blackburn last September, making 42 appearances in an impressive campaign with a Championship outfit. He returned to Liverpool in the summer and enjoyed an engaging preseason with Jurgen Klopp’s lineup.
