Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud set to replace injured Taskin Ahmed for USA T20I Series

Bangladesh’s fast bowler Hasan Mahmud is poised to join the national cricket team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against USA in Texas. He is expected to step in for Taskin Ahmed, who recently suffered a side injury, ruling him out of the series scheduled for May 21, 23, and 25.

Hasan, a 24-year-old pacer with 17 T20Is under his belt, last played for Bangladesh in this format against Afghanistan in July last year. While a 17-member squad will be selected for the USA tour, Taskin may still travel with the team as there is hope for his recovery before the global event.

However, if Taskin is unable to recover in time, Hasan will likely secure a spot in the World Cup squad. Changes to the squad can be made until May 25, following the announcement by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on May 14. Any further alterations will require approval from the ICC T20WC technical committee.

“We are optimistic that Hasan Mahmud will travel to the USA for the T20Is and could potentially replace Taskin in the World Cup squad if needed,” a selection panel member confirmed.

While Taskin’s injury status remains uncertain, the team management is hopeful for his recovery, considering there is still time before the World Cup. However, the management seems disappointed with Mohammad Saifuddin’s recent performance against Zimbabwe and may opt for pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib and spinner Tanvir Islam in the World Cup squad.

With exciting developments in Bangladesh’s cricket team, fans can look forward to a competitive and dynamic lineup for the upcoming T20I series and the prestigious World Cup event.
