1979-80
Pakistan clinched the three-match series with an eight-wicket victory in Karachi. Iqbal Qasim, a left-arm spinner, grabbed 11 wickets to help Javed Miandad’s Pakistan to win. The remaining two Tests, held in Lahore and Faisalabad, were drawn.
1982-83
In the 1982-83 series, Pakistan swept the series 3-0. Mohsin Khan and Zaheer Abbas led the batting rankings for the hosts.
With 22 wickets in the series, leg-spinner Abdul Qadir dominated the series. Skipper Imran Khan bagged 13 wickets.
Pakistan won by nine wickets in Karachi, by an innings and three runs in Faisalabad, and by nine wickets in Lahore.
1989-90
In the first Test of the 1988-89 series, Pakistan’s skipper Javed Miandad struck a stunning double century as Pakistan earned their then-largest Test victory in terms of runs (188). The hosts won the series 1-0, with the Faisalabad and Lahore Tests finishing in draws.
1994
Pakistan won the Karachi Test of the 1994 series by a single wicket, in one of the most exciting triumphs in Test history.
Captain Saleem Malik then hit a match-saving double century in Rawalpindi and a match-saving century in Lahore to secure a 1-0 triumph over the Mark Taylor-led Australians.
1998
Australia’s 39-year drought for a series victory in Pakistan came to an end in 1998. Taylor’s team won the three-match series 1-0. Australia won the first Test at Rawalpindi by one innings.
Taylor subsequently atoned for his actions by blasting a triple century in the Peshawar Test. After a high-scoring tie in Peshawar, Ijaz Ahmed’s century helped Pakistan rescue a draw in Karachi.
2002-03
The two teams met in a three-match series in the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan, captained by Waqar Younis, was swept 3-0 by Australia.
Pakistan were bowled out for 59 and 53 in the second Test at Sharjah, recording their lowest-ever Test totals in a period of two days.
2010
In England, the two teams competed in a two-Test series. After losing by a large margin in the Lords Test.
Pakistan won their first Test against Australia in over 15 years with a dramatic three-wicket victory at Headingley Leeds.
Pakistan’s historic triumph was highlighted by Mohammad Amir’s seven wickets.
2014
Pakistan defeated Australia for the first time in 20 years, winning two thumping victories in Dubai and Abu Dhabi to sweep the two-match series 2-0.
In the Abu Dhabi Test, Captain Misbahul Haq achieved the then-joint-fastest Test century.
Leg-spinner Yasir Shah and left-arm spinner Zulfiqar Babar tore through the Australian batting lineups time and again in the series, ensuring the hosts’ emphatic wins.
2018
Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led team was held to a thrilling tie in the first Test in Dubai before Mohammad Abbas’ heroics with the ball sealed a resounding 373-run victory.
