Casemiro’s time in Porto

During his early career in Porto, Casemiro was known for his tenacious defending and physical strength. He often served as a defensive midfielder, helping to set the tone for Porto’s defense and disrupting opponents’ attacks. His decisive tackles and ability to read the game proved invaluable to his team. Alongside fellow midfielders including Fernando, Danilo, and João Moutinho, he helped establish Porto’s success in Portuguese football during the 2010-2011 season. Although he did not get much of a chance to play until his move to Real Madrid in 2013, Casemiro’s hard work at Porto laid the foundation for much of his future success at club and international level.

 

Casemiro’s time in Real Madrid – Carlo & Zidane

Casemiro is no stranger to success since joining Real Madrid in 2013. After a slow start to his career at the club, he eventually found his place and played an integral part in the team’s achievements over the last seven years. He has played alongside some of the greatest players to grace the game such as Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. Although Casemiro did not initially make it easy for himself due to his discipline issues, he gradually developed into one of Los Blancos’ most reliable players. During his tenure at Real Madrid, Casemiro was essential to their successes both domestically and abroad. In La Liga alone, he helped them win four titles in a row and had a pivotal role in their 2016/17 campaign, where they broke all-time records with only one defeat in 34 matches. On the European stage too, he was a key figure as Real Madrid won three Champions League titles in a row from 2015 to 2018, earning him two medals during this period of dominance.

 

Personal success of the players

On a personal level too, Casemiro has seen his own individual achievements since joining Real Madrid. He has been included in the FIFPro World XI on two occasions (2016 & 2017) and was named La Liga Midfielder of the year 2018/19 – an award given to him for being one of the team’s best defensive midfielders during that season. His ability to read the game coupled with his vast tactical knowledge not only provides great defensive stability but also allows him to be much more effective going forward when attacking. Overall, Casemiro has certainly made major contributions while with Real Madrid which are deserving of credit and recognition.
