Jose Mourinho is the special one, and he is already in the history books of the many clubs. His first most significant achievement started from the Portuguese club Porto, and the rest is history. Today we will talk about the Special One and how he has changed the club Chelsea and Premier League.

Abramovic was admiring Jose’s work in Porto.

As we have mentioned above, Jose Mourinho was the coach of Porto before signing for the London club. Russian billionaire Abramovic brought Chelsea and decided to look for a new coach. At this point, Jose Mourinho was very active in the football world. He was doing wonders with Porto and even won the Champions League. In the last few decades, Porto’s year was very different. Looking at the previous two decades, we see that only top-4 league clubs get Champions League trophies. Jose changed the course of European football and lifted the league trophy with Porto. Abramovic did not hesitate and offered him a good contract. At this same time, Jose got a perfect transfer budget and total freedom with the players. The “Special One” knew that Premier League would change his career.

Drogba

Jose had a firm foundation.

Before Jose signed for Chelsea, Abramovich was already the club’s owner. He signed Claudio Ranieri for a season and gave him total freedom. Chelsea was already the top-6 club of the Premier League. Ranieri brought the top-tier players like Duff, Joe Cole and Claude Makelele from Real Madrid. Los Blancos lost Makelele and could not replace him, so the player impacted Jose’s period. Jose Mourinho soon signed a contract with the “Blues” and added more top-level footballers to the squad. Jose recalls when Abramovich offered him to buy the most prominent strikers globally, but he refused. The Special One had a significant interest in Didier Drogba. The striker was not so well known in the football world; everyone was amazed by Jose’s decision.

First Premier League trophy in the first season

As Jose signed for Chelsea, he added more players to the squad. Pete Cech became the face of the goalkeeping. Didier Drogba and ‘flying’ Arjen Robben. It was visible that Jose was very much interested in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea has a perfect first season. The team won the Premier League with unbelievable statistics. The team won 28 games out of 38 rounds. At the same time, Chelsea lost only one clash in the Premier League. Peter Cech conceded only 15 goals which is an extensive record for him and Premier League-wise. Chelsea was dominating Premier League for many seasons, and they were constantly clashing with the primary opponent – Manchester United. Alex Ferguson’s team was excellent, but Jose was doing wonders. Along with Arjen Robben and Didier Drogba, Jose’s statistics were too good to be true. The team reached the semi-finals of the Champions League many times, but he could not lift the trophy with the “Blues”. After spending many seasons in the Premier League, he left the club and signed for Serie A.
