Hugo Lloris has signed a new contract with Tottenham
French footballer Hugo Lloris has already spent 10 years with the PL heavyweights and he will hold on to north London.
What does the statement on the club’s official website say?
The France international has signed a new contract at Tottenham that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024. The World Cup-winning French player has already spent a decade of Spurs with nearly 400 appearances and has agreed to extend his association with PL heavyweights. Hugo Lloris captains the north London club and, with fresh terms agreed, looks set to remain first choice between sticks as Conte usher in a new era for a team desperate to end the long wait for major silverware.
A statement on the club’s official website states that they are delighted to announce that Lloris has signed a new two-and-a-half-year contract with the club that runs until 2024. Club and country captain, World Cup and UEFA Nations League winner with France, Lloris, 35, has amassed 395 appearances since his arrival from Lyon in August 2012. It has also been said that already 14th on their all-time list, Hugo Lloris will soon become only the 12th player to make 400 appearances for them in all competitions. Only two goaltenders – all big Ted Ditchburn (452) and Pat Jennings (590) – have played more for them.
A little about the topic
Hugo’s decision to sign an extension at Spurs brings any uncertainty surrounding his future closer to an end. The first man to save 100 PL clean sheets for Tottenham had a summer out arguing over how his previous deal fell through. Speculation suggested that Antonio Conte, who took over from Espirito Santo in November, was ready to let the veteran move on as a free agent. Hugo Lloris has been linked with a return to his Nice roots, starting his professional career in a Ligue 1 outfit, but any homecoming plans have been put on hold for the time being.
