The Swedish striker of Milan admits that he was thinking about ending his career. The 39-year-old footballer says he still feels very good again.
Milan have 23 points after 9 games in Serie A and is the leader of the tournament table. The 39-year-old player talks about the current mood in the team and his challenges:
“Milan are thirsty for victories. We have the attitude, and we handle the job well. We do not need dreams and goals; it is enough to think about a specific game. Of course, I have a goal, but the team must show the best results. Now is not the time to relax. Everyone remembers only our last matches.
Going to a club that is already at the top, I prefer to lead the team to the top myself. If I was afraid, I would not sign a contract with Milan. He was also at Manchester United. Then I was told I would be totally lost because I was too old for that.
Ten years ago, I had a different status, a different ego, but now I have experience. “When you are young, you think about it. Now you know the situation better.”
Zlatan recalls the decision to extend his contract last summer and the dialogue with Stefano Pioli:
“Stefano Pioli asked me what I was going to do. I replied: ‘I’m not going to continue. Enough. Family is important to me, and here I am alone – as a victim. Six months – good, but I can not stay here for another year. “Pioli told me that he respected my decision.
The next day we talked again and told him I was finishing my career, but then something changed. I called Milan again and told them I would continue to play.
I was still thinking about ending my career at Manchester United when I was 35 or 36 years old. But who am I without football? It’s hard to get over what you’ve been doing for 25 years. Am I ready for it now? “No, because I still feel very good,” Ibra said.
Zlatan played for Milan in 2010-12 and then returned to the club in January 2020. The player extended his contract with the club for one year last summer. In the current season of Serie A, Ibra played in 6 matches, in which he scored 10 goals and 1 assist.
