For the first time, he has reached the top 20 in the ICC T20 rankings. He is currently in 18th place. Before the series, he was at number 45.

Shreyas Iyer performed brilliantly in this series against Sri Lanka and scored a lot of runs. Iyer scored 204 runs in the three-match series at a strike rate of 174.36. Shreyas hit a hat-trick of half-centuries in this series. He scored an unbeaten 57 in the first T20 match, scored an unbeaten 74 in the second match and added an unbeaten 73 in the third match.

He became the fourth Indian batsman to hit a hat-trick of half-centuries in T20Is. Before Shreyas, Virat Kohli has done this work thrice, while KL Rahul has twice and Rohit Sharma has scored a hat-trick of half-centuries once. Shreyas was also adjudged Player of the Series for this strong performance.
