Australia’s interim coach Andrew McDonald on Wednesday pitched for the importance of the Indian Premier League. After saying the upcoming leg of the lucrative league would be good for his team’s preparation for the T20 World Cup, which will take home the title later this year.
McDonald said during a virtual press conference before the Australian team left for Pakistan, “No doubt about it. I think the Indian Premier League (IPL) can be included in our preparations for our plans for the T20 World Cup and There can be no better example than Josh Hazlewood.
Playing in the IPL before the World Cup will be like getting well prepared.” Australia is ready to tour Pakistan after 24 years in which they have to play a full series. The three-Test matches in the series will start in Rawalpindi from March 4. Then three ODIs and one T20 International match will take place.

Interestingly, McDonald’s statement came a day after the news of Australia’s star players not participating in the initial phase of the IPL. And Pat Cummins who will not play the limited-overs series against Pakistan but will still not be a part of the initial phase of the IPL.
The limited-overs series against Pakistan will take place on the date of the opening phase of the IPL. Although the date of the upcoming IPL is yet to be announced. It is expected to start in the last week of March.
