Australia Captain Meg Lanning & all-rounder Tahlia McGrath have made notable gains in the ICC Women’s T20I Rankings. The duo played a vital role in helping Australia to clinch the three-match series against England by 1-0.

Meg Lanning’s 44 balls 64 helped her to overtake Smriti Mandhana on third place in the Rankings while Mcgrath’s Player of the Match effort of 91 off 49 balls helped her to move up by 29 places to 28th position.
The latest ICC Women’s T20I Rankings came as a boon to opener Shafali Verma who regained the top spot replacing Australia’s Beth Mooney who was out of action during the T20I series against England due to an injury. Shafali Verma who attained number one position in the Rankings back during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 is now two points ahead of Mooney at 726.
The latest weekly update includes the performances in the just concluded five-team ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier 2022 held in Kuala Lumpur, Sri Lanka’s Captain Chamari Athapaththu has progressed by six places to eighth spot after amassing 221 runs in the tournament. Bangladesh’s Mushida Khatun progressed up by 35 places to 48th position after scoring 126 runs.
Wyatt progressed up by three places to 13th position
England’s openers Danni Wyatt (70) & Tammy Beaumont (30) who stitched an 82 run stand in the first match have also moved up in the rankings. Wyatt progressed up by three places to 13th position & Beaumont up by two places to 16th spot with Captain Heather Knight also grabbing a spot in the top 20.
Athapaththu who was awarded as Player of the Series in the recently concluded Kuala Lumpur tournament which featured Bangladesh, Scotland, Kenya, & Malaysia has moved up by four places to grab 52nd position among the ICC Women’s T20I rankings for bowlers. Her four wickets in that tournament included a three-wicket haul in the final match against Bangladesh held on Monday. Athapaththu also moved up by one place to seventh position among the all-rounder’s list while Ellyse Perry dropped out of the top ten in the list that continues to be led by New Zealand’s Sophie Devine.
