ICC Women’s World Cup 2022: India knocked out of WC after losing on the last ball of the match against South Africa

Women’s World Cup, Ind vs SA: Chasing the target of 275 runs from the Indian team (India), Africa defeated India by 3 wickets on the last ball of the 50th over. Due to this, the Indian team has been out of the race for the semi-finals.

Team India had to win this match at any cost to continue its journey in the World Cup. Because only after winning this match, India could get a place in the semi-finals.

Opener Laura Wolvardto scored the most runs for South Africa. She played an innings of 80 runs. Apart from them, Lara Goodall 49 and Mignon du Prezzo, who remained at the crease till the end, scored 52 runs. Rajeshwari Gaikwad and Harmanpreet Kaur took 2-2 wickets for India.

Earlier, India scored 274 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s 71, Shefali Verma 53, Mithali Raj’s 68 and Harmanpreet Kaur’s 48.

India’s innings

Against South Africa, Captain Mithali won the toss and decided to bat first. From this match, the team’s experienced fast bowler Jhulan Goswami had to sit out due to injury.

Opening India’s innings, opener Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma added 91 runs for the first wicket. The team got the first blow in the form of Shefali Verma. Shefali Verma was run out after scoring 53 runs.

South Africa got their second success clean bowled by Yastika Bhatia on the score of 2 runs. After this, captain Mithali along with Mandhana took the team to 176 runs.

The team got the third blow in the form of Mandhana. Mandhana became a victim of Masabata class with a score of 71 to play a big shot.

Captain Mithali was dismissed in the 43rd over after scoring 68 runs. After this, Pooja Vastrakar lost her wicket for 3 runs and the team’s score became 240/5 in 45 overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur played an innings of 48 runs in the last over with a bang. Thanks to this, India scored 274 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs.
