“If You Want To Complain About Flat Pitches Then You Should Quit Cricket, Saeed Ajmal Tells Critics
During the current Test series between Australia and Pakistan, there is a lot of discussion about the flat pitch. More questions were raised about the pitch of the Test match played in Rawalpindi. Now former Pakistan spin bowler Saeed Ajmal has given advice to the bowlers on the pretext of flat pitch.
According to Ajmal, if a bowler complains about flat pitches, then he should abstain from Test cricket. Ajmal said that a bowler should play mind games with the batsman and then execute the plans to deceive the batsmen. Ajmal also added that spinners should focus on their skills rather than on pitches.
Ajmal told Cricket Pakistan, “You need temperance to take wickets. You have to bowl 8-10 overs well to play mind games with the batsmen and then you will be able to execute your plan. If you want to complain about ‘flat pitches’ then you should quit cricket. If the spinner will look at the pitch and then bowl, what is the point of being a spinner? Spinners have to learn to perform in all conditions.”
Saeed Ajmal further said, “The notion that Pakistan always has spin friendly wickets is not correct, it was never so. Even when we were playing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), we had to spin the ball and it didn’t happen in any magical way.”
Ajmal also said that Babar Azam is a brilliant talent like Indian batsman Virat Kohli. Ajmal praised Pakistani wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan fiercely. Ajmal said that Rizwan has performed in every format and he is the best cricketer in world cricket at the moment.
On the other hand, the third Test match between Pakistan and Australia is to be played in Lahore from Monday. The first two matches ended in a draw, this last match has become decisive as both teams will aim to finish with a win.
In previous matches, pitches have helped the batsmen. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will take the help of Toby Lumsden, the former chief curator of the ICC Academy, for the third and final Test of the series to be played in Lahore.
