Iker Casillas Directs a Jab towards Gerard Pique regarding Refereeing in the Blues vs Barcelona Match

Gerard Pique and Íker Casillas Engage in Comical Exchange

Two of the most notable representatives of Barcelona and Real Madrid, Gerard Pique and Íker Casillas, engaged in a comical exchange during a Kings League matchday 6 preview. The two former captains of their respective clubs had several comments regarding refereeing issues, which are not uncommon in the intense rivalry between the two teams.

Remembrance of a Controversial Penalty in Elche vs Real Madrid

The exchange started when Gerard Pique remembered Cesar Muniz Fernandez, a former Spanish LaLiga referee. The former Barcelona player and current Kings League president recalled a controversial penalty that took place in the 2012/13 season in a match between Elche and Real Madrid. The penalty, which Pique pointed out was given to Pepe, led to Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal and Real Madrid’s victory.

Response to a Disgraceful Incident at Stamford Bridge

Casillas, who was not at all amused by Gerard Pique’s statement, responded by recalling the infamous refereeing by Ovrebo at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League semi-finals in 2009. The former Real Madrid goalkeeper referred to the incident as one of Barcelona’s disgraceful moments. Pique, in response to Iker’s comment, chose to not continue fueling the controversy and closed the subject. In conclusion, the Real Madrid-Barcelona rivalry is felt even in the Kings League and incidents like this are not uncommon. With two of the biggest representatives of both clubs, it is difficult to avoid these discussions from time to time.
